Hello! My name is Jeanette Cutone and I am pleased to welcome you to my e-portfolio. This e-portfolio provides insight into my journey of becoming an educational leader.
I knew from a very young age I wanted to be a special educator, and pursued this goal diligently. In May 2007 I received a Bachelor of Arts (dual certification) in English and Special Education grades 7 - 12 from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York. While enrolled at Molloy I tutored high school aged students with disabilities and worked at a Jewish Community Center with adults with autism spectrum disorders. This helped me directly apply what I was learning in my college classroom to working with my students. That same summer I accepted an English Special Education teaching position at Great Neck South High School in Great Neck, New York., where I am teaching currently. I received a Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in May 2010 from Long Island University - C.W. Post Campus. This degree was of particular interest to me as it was designed personally by me to include courses from the schools of Psychology, Social Work, and Special Education. Throughout this coursework I recognized my true passion in education: transitioning students with disabilities to post secondary programs.
I decided to return to Long Island University in September 2012 for my Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership. I am excited to see what direction my career will go from here. I am a member of the American Association of Administrators, Council for Exceptional Children, and the National Council for the Teacher of English. On a final note, I would like to thank all of the professors in the Department of Educational Leadership and Administration at C.W. Post Campus for their ongoing support and kind words of encouragement.
I believe this e-portfolio will allow you to see my educational and leadership visions. Please feel free to browse through and contact me for further information. At the top of each page you will find an inspirational quote; one I believe all leaders should embrace.
Enjoy!
